Jessica Alba Opens Up About The Honest Company For Allure -- 'We Change People's Lives'

Jessica Alba covers Allure.
If any one celebrity is the ultimate in goals, it’s definitely Jessica Alba.
She’s a beautiful, smart woman who started her own $1.7 billion company and still gets to be in movies once in a while.

The actress and businesswoman appears on the cover of Allure‘s September issue looking incredibly fresh and lovely, and talks about the state of the Honest Co., which she founded in 2012.
The company has grown thanks to its helpful products (despite some negative instances here and there), and has certainly also succeeded thanks to the presence of such a well-known person at the helm.
Jessica agrees that her status is both a pro and a con in the business world:

“I think [fame is] a double-edged sword. It also makes people skeptical when they see a celebrity attached. Sometimes it makes you interested, but sometimes it could be really bad: Are they just doing it for money? Is this just an endorsement? The products have to be great. Yes, I have a platform because of what I do, and I have access to media in ways that other people don’t, so I can spread the word. [Customers] may be interested because of that and try [the products]. But you can’t convert people because they’re interested. What’s going to convert them is [realizing], ‘Oh, my God, this is amazing.’ I get messages all the time about our products. We change people’s lives.”

But in order to make sure it’s as successful as can be, the 35-year-old is involved every step of the way:

“When you’re a founder of a company, there’s really nothing going on that you’re not part of├óΓé¼┬ªso when it comes to the design of the site, the display ads, our marketing strategy, I’m part of all those discussions and involved in all those creative assets.”

And although the Honest Co. features mostly natural and organic products, Jessica isn’t anti-chemical or an “environmental absolutist”:

“Everything is a chemical. Water is a chemical. I’m not against chemicals. I care about human health, and I want whatever is safest and healthiest. Some people can have very extreme points of view. I created the Honest Company because I’m not extreme. I couldn’t identify with people who wanted to do everything completely 100 percent from nature. I don’t have a garden growing my own organic fruits and vegetables. I don’t have an organic farm where I’m raising my own livestock. That’s not my reality. So I want the best options that work for me without me feeling like I want to compromise on health or safety. Honest is about that happy medium, and not extreme.”

Sounds very reasonable!
