Jim Edmonds may be reeling after being accused by his now-estranged wife of having an affair with the nanny, but at least his daughter is standing up for him — and she’s up for the fight!
As we’ve been reporting the last few days, the marriage between the former MLB superstar and Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King Edmonds has completely deteriorated. Jim first filed for divorce back on Friday of last week, after which all kinds of weekend drama made the couple’s breakup into headline news by Sunday night.

Well now, after having a couple of days to digest it all, Jim’s adult daughter Hayley Edmonds is on the warpath — coming for Meghan, and clearly ready to defend her dad from all the cheating accusations and other rumors flying around.
The 22-year-old, who was born to Jim and his late first wife, LeAnn Horton, spoke to Us Weekly about watching the divorce play out, and she didn’t exactly hold back. Like, at all.
Here’s everything the defensive daughter had to say about her baseball legend dad and his now-estranged reality TV wife…

“I’ve been waiting for it”
Hindsight is 20/20 on many breakups, perhaps, and it’s easy to say you knew things would never work out once the couple actually splits. But to hear Hayley tell it, she (and the rest of her family) were pretty much counting down the days until this thing blew up. She explained to the publication (below):
“I’ve been waiting for it. For probably … three years? I think it’s impossible to be happy with someone so, I don’t know if I would say narcissistic but, she, like, creates her own problems and loves conflict and things like that. The selfishness is miserable for anyone to be around, let alone to be married to her. My whole family has grown closer because we have all had to stay silent in hopes to protect my dad and no one can do it anymore.”
Married for five years, and your own daughter has known for at least three of those years that something was going to blow up… not great, Jim!

Also, what a read that is on Meghan. True or not, it’s biting as hell. And does it remind you of anyone else in the public eye right now????
“Completely manipulated me”
Real fans of RHOC likely remember Hayley, because we saw a lot of her own contentious relationship with Meghan on Season 10 of the Bravo series. The then-teenager had to move in with Meghan and Jim while her own mother, LeAnn, battled cancer before eventually passing away in July 2015. Hayley revealed to Us Weekly how Meghan made a difficult time much, much worse — giving off a super evil-stepmom feel, at least according to her (below):
“I will say I didn’t look the best when I was on the show, but I got so much scrutiny from the way that she portrayed me like I was stupid and I didn’t care about anything. In reality, like, I dropped out of high school to take care of my sick mother and she came in and completely manipulated me to get on the show and told me I was making it harder on my mom to be there and I was giving her anxiety and I needed to live with Meghan and give my mom less stress.”
Wow…
And that poor treatment allegedly wasn’t limited to Hayley; the young woman claims the former reality TV star has blocked Jim’s mom (their kids’ grandma) on Instagram, so the poor woman can’t even see pictures of her grandkids! Hayley explained (below):
“The way Meghan treats my dad’s mom is disgusting. And we’ve all just had to sit quietly and I’m just done with it. It’s a bummer. Because my grandma just wants to see pictures of her grandkids and she had to get them sent to her every day. It just really bummed her out. That really sucks.”
If that’s true, that seriously just sounds unnecessarily evil…
“She goes after people so ruthlessly”
Hayley’s most incredulous denial out of the entire situation was undoubtedly in reacting to Meghan’s accusation of Jim having an affair with the nanny. As we reported at the time, the person identified as the couple’s trusted caretaker is a 20-something woman named Carly Wilson — who has strongly denied the accusations of an affair, BTW. the athlete has denied the affair allegations, as well.
And Hayley didn’t exactly hold back here, saying to the mag (below):
“They’re family! They are around everyday and they care about those kids and they care about my dad because he’s just like … they want to help him. They’re just young girls that are just trying to work and be positive and be happy and enjoy their job. And the way she stepped over the line is just completely disrespectful and it’s just absurd. Especially the way that she treated Carly is mind-blowing to me because she holds herself to very high moral standards and she is a great girl who moved to St. Louis across the country because she loves those kids. And it’s just I mean absolutely ludicrous I would say. I can’t even … I keep saying I’m shocked, but I’m not surprised at the way that she goes after people so ruthlessly.”
Wow!
Can’t wait to see what the former Bravolebrity says in response to all of this…
“None of us wanted any of this”
Ultimately, Jim’s daughter sounds remorseful about the entire episode, noting her “really private family” just never did well with Meghan’s apparent desire for fame. The young woman revealed more, too, acknowledging that it’s tough to fight against the former reality TV star’s massive network of fans in a situation like this (below):
“I think this whole publicity thing with Meghan just ruined his reputation and it’s really sad to see because he was an amazing athlete and he held himself to morally high standards and just a great guy so it sucks to see. … Finally, I’m hoping he’ll put himself first and be happy and be able to be a dad again. And I’m stoked that I can have my dad fully back and not have to tiptoe around [Meghan]. Everyone that cares about him is proud that he finally took the leap of leaving her. It really just pisses me off … She’s got the following and she has the public. We’ve always been a really private family. None of us wanted any of this. We all just want to live our own lives.”
Ugh.
Well, it’ll be over soon enough as the divorce process goes through the courts, we suppose. But still… what a mess.
