Well, this definitely wasn’t how the Chrisley fam thought things were going to go…
On Wednesday morning, Julie Chrisley appeared before a judge in the US District Court of the Northern District of Georgia in downtown Atlanta. As we’ve reported, she was there to be resentenced. A judge had previously ruled on appeal that her sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion needed to be tossed out and re-visited. Well, the new sentence just came down, and… it’s the exact same length of time as the original punishment! WHAT?!

According to multiple outlets covering Wednesday morning’s resentencing hearing, the judge in the case called for the Chrisley Knows Best alum to go right back to prison and serve the same 84-month sentence she’d been handed down in the first place! No changes!
Womp, womp!
Obviously, Julie will get credit for the time she’s already served. She’d been incarcerated originally at Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentucky. But now, instead of the possibility of getting out of prison way early — which is what Julie and Todd Chrisley‘s daughter Savannah Chrisley has desperately been hoping for over the last few months — Julie is going right back to serve out the rest of her bid. Ouch!
Per People, both Savannah and her little bro Chase Chrisley were in court for the hearing on Wednesday morning. This no doubt must be SUPER disappointing for them. They had such high hopes that Julie was going to be sprung. But now… not!

That outlet reports Julie was seen with uncharacteristic natural brown hair during her court appearance earlier today — an unrecognizable look compared to the dyed blonde locks she always rocks on TV. And the brightness wasn’t just gone from her follicles. Her smile was gone too. At one point, the reality TV veteran stood before the judge with tears in her eyes and apologized for the actions that have led her here. The 51-year-old star said:
“I would like to say I’ve had years to think about what I’ve wanted to say and I’m sorry for my actions and situations that let us to where we are today. I’ve had 20 months in prison, but it has been much more leading up to the trial and I apologize for my actions that led to where we are today.”
But it wasn’t all about contrition. No, the point was mostly to tell the judge she’d served plenty of time already.
Julie tried to make her case that she’s done enough in prison to prove rehabilitation and show the judge that she was ready to come home. According to her own words read out onto the record before the court on Wednesday, she has humbled herself in food service and even spent time taking tests towards “driving a forklift” while in jail. OK… Her apology revealed:
“I have done everything I can do to get closer to my family. I’ve taken tests for new skills, such as driving a forklift and serving food in proper ways … this has been the most difficult part of my life. I can’t ever repay my children for what they’ve had to go through and for that, I am so sorry.”
And yet, it wasn’t good enough for a judge to shorten her previously-vacated 84-month sentence. So, she’ll go right back to jail and finish serving that out. That’s definitely less than ideal for the Chrisley fam, to say the least.
As you may recall, she and Todd (who received a 12-year sentence initially) both reported to prison back in January of 2023. So, as she noted in her own statement in court today, Julie is more than 20 months into her sentence. But unfortunately for her and her children, the end isn’t any closer now than it was before the resentencing hearing.
