Seriously, Elon Musk? Just eight months after being banned for making several offensive and antisemitic posts, Kanye West is back on Twitter.
The company, which has been rebranded as X, reinstated the 46-year-old rapper’s account at one point on Saturday. Ugh. How did he manage to convince them to let him return to the platform? According to The Wall Street Journal, a source claimed the decision to give him back his account came “after receiving reassurance that he wouldn’t use the platform to share antisemitic or otherwise harmful language.” However, there are still limitations placed on his page. The outlet reported that Kanye won’t be eligible to monetize his account, and advertisements won’t show next to any of his posts moving forward.

As of Sunday morning, the Yeezy designer has over 31 million followers on the social media platform. He also has not posted anything since his account was restored over the weekend. There’s no doubt many social media users are disappointed and sickened to see Kanye back on Twitter, especially when he has done absolutely nothing to make amends following his antisemitism controversy. He hasn’t even offered a genuine apology! The StopAntisemitism organization even tweeted on Sunday:
“We are disgusted to see antisemite Kanye West unbanned by Twitter. What was once a platform for debate and discussion has simply become a cesspool for bigots to spew their hatred.”
He understandably won’t be welcomed back with open arms from many social media users! As you know, the Flashing Lights artist came under fire after making several problematic and antisemitic comments on the platform and in interviews. He was first suspended from Twitter in October 2022 after horrifically tweeting he planned to go “death con 3 on Jewish people.” However, his account was soon restored — even as he continuously doubled down on his threatening comments.
The scandal escalated when he praised Adolf Hilter and the Nazis in an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Shortly afterward, he then tweeted a since-deleted picture of a swastika inside the Star of David in December 2022. Horrific. Ye was kicked off Twitter again since he violated the platform’s policies against “incitement to violence.” In addition to being removed from the site, the record producer’s career was ruined as several brands cut ties with him, including Adidas, Balenciaga, and Gap.
