The Creator Of Clueless Has Her Sights Set On Katy Perry For The Musical Adaptation Of The '90s Film! Will It Actually Happen?!

On Thursday, it was revealed that Amy Heckerling, the director and writer of the ’90s cult classic Clueless, has one special pop star in mind for the musical adaptation of the film.
We just have to say her choice makes total sense as this starlet is a total California Gurls! LOLz!
YUP. Katy Perry is being eyed for the sassy, Beverly Hills protagonist that made Alicia Silverstone a star.

The creator explained:

“I love Katy Perry. But you never know what will happen, she has a whole big schedule.”

Umm, that could definitely be a problem — especially since the 31-year-old is currently the highest paid singer in the biz. Still, Miz Perry has apparently expressed some innerested in the role in the past.
Can’t you JUST imagine Katy saying “As if,” and “Whatever??” We know we certainly do!
As we previously reported, Clueless the Musical is likely slated for a NYC debut in 2016. Nonetheless, Amy seems more than ready to speed up the entire process.
She noted:

“We have another reading, and then hopefully workshops.”

Yasss! We’re definitely ready to see how the fan favorite film transitions into the musical world.
In regards to the musical numbers, Amy shared:

“I don’t think [fans] will go, ‘Oh, it’s just karaoke to the movie, or it is an entirely different animal.’ It is true to the movie, but it sings, hopefully.”
