In case you didn’t hear, Disney took a rare wrong step this week with the news of yet another reboot.
No, it wasn’t The Black Cauldron or The Rescuers Down Under with live action rats — no, the Mouse House is dipping its toe into their recent $70 million acquisition: 20th Century Fox‘s film library.
CEO Bob Iger announced on Tuesday the streaming service Disney+, which will launch November 12 at a cost of $6.99 a month, will be home to reboots of film franchises Cheaper By The Dozen, Night At The Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Home Alone.
It was that last one which had ’90s kids taking to Twitter in protest, telling Disney not to ruin their childhood memories.

Several fans also pointed out the strange logical misstep of trying to update Home Alone — the story of a young boy whose family accidentally leaves him behind when they go on Christmas vacation — in an age where the Internet exists, every kid has a cell phone, and the McCallisters could just call for a ride from Uber or Lyft with the press of a button.
Well, one person who knows a thing or two about the original two Home Alone films has something to add: It’s Macaulay Culkin!
The child star, who entertains these days with a podcast and YouTube channel, had his own idea of what a reboot would look like.
He shared on social media:
“This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like.”

We actually wouldn’t hate the idea of a Home Alone soft reboot that looks EXACTLY like this, with a grownup slacker Kevin. It would be better than the LAST time Home Alone was rebooted anyway.
Oh, did y’all not realize Home Alone had already gotten the reboot treatment??
Yep, if you’re upset about Disney remaking everything, just look back at the last time Fox took a shot with the franchise.
Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House was ALSO a reboot of the original film, with a new child actor playing Kevin.
In the made-for-TV disaster, the McCallisters are divorced, and Kevin spends Christmas with his dad and future stepmom in their giant mansion.
The 2002 movie was intended as the pilot for an ongoing Home Alone series, and Kevin’s mom isn’t even in it!
So yeah. So much for this classic moment.
Talk about ruining your childhood! You can keep THAT change, ya filthy animals!
