Mark Wahlberg
has portrayed a cop in several of his blockbuster hits. But has his research influenced him to become one in real life?!
In a situation where art imitates life, the Boston actor apparently wants to pardon his 1988 assault conviction — where he physically attacked two men and allegedly voiced racial slurs at them — in order to become a reserve officer.
The only problem is that becoming a reservist would require him to possibly use a firearm and convicted felons are, reasonably so, not allowed to handle dangerous weapons.

In his application to the Massachusetts Parole Board, the 43-year-old has admitted wrongdoing:

“Rather than ignore or deny my troubled past, I have used the public spotlight to speak openly about the mistakes I made as a teenager so that others do not make those same mistakes.”

If the Oscar-nominated actor does become a cop, he wouldn’t be the first celeb to do so. Shaquille O’Neal and Jack Osbourne are reserve cops in Miami and Muncie, Indiana respectively.
In the meantime, Wahlberg’s dreams of shooting guns will stay strictly on the set of a movie.
