It’s one of the most talked about Hollywood romances of all time! He’d be a fool not to take it on!
Paramount Pictures is in the middle of securing the rights to make a biopic based on the star-crossed romance between the late Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The studio is currently in talks with the Taylor estate to secure her life rights, while Burton’s widow, Sally Hay Burton, has already made the actor’s resources and library available. Along with the estates, Paramount has also optioned Furious Love, the book by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger about their affair, and the hunt for a screenwriter is on.
However, the studio isn’t just looking to make another tawdry romance. This thing’s gonna have some depth! Paramount is actively pursuing Martin Scorsese to direct and possibly produce, through his Paramount-based Sikelia banner.
Wow! Imagine that! Martin is an excellent choice, no doubt, and when you stop to think about it, Liz deserves the best of the best to tell her story. We approve!
