Sky Arts Comes To Their Senses & Officially Pulls Urban Myths' Controversial Michael Jackson Episode!

The Jacksons must be so thrilled about this update!
As you surely know, Joseph Fiennes sparked quite a bit of controversy this week as the first trailer for Urban Myths dropped — which featured the (white) Shakespeare In Love actor in the role of Michael Jackson. Crazy, we know.

While the controversial casting caused quite the uproar when it was first announced last year, Sky Arts seemed determined to move forward with the episode… until now. Yup, after the King of Pop’s daughter Paris Jackson and nephew Taj Jackson voiced their disdain for the project, the network officially pulled Fiennes’ episode from the comedy series.
A spokesperson for the show explained:

“We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael, and Marlon, a half-hour episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series, in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family. We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events and never intended to cause any offense. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”

Well, we’re glad Sky Arts actually listened to the the feedback they were getting. Although, we are kind of bummed that we won’t be seeing Stockard Channing as Elizabeth Taylor. In case you forgot, the specific episode discussed (above) was about the Thriller singer, the Hollywood icon, and Marlon Brando taking a road trip together from NYC to El Lay following the 9/11 attacks.
If only the network hadn’t white washed Jackson’s character, we could’ve all been enjoying that wacky episode. Sigh.
Thankfully, it’s said the series’ other episodes will still air, despite this specific controversy. Phew, because we are certainly intrigued about that Cary Grant taking LSD episode. LOLz!
