It was widely rumored that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would be spending the Christmas holiday in California where they have been visiting since before Thanksgiving.
But it now looks like they will be heading a bit further north to Canada on December 25!

In a statement to Us Weekly, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared on Friday:
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private family time in Canada. The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. For security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is requested.”
This will be baby Archie Harrison‘s first visit to Canada, and Toronto is where Miz Markle filmed Suits for many years before leaving the series to become a royal. And let’s not forget the moment Meg and Harry were confirmed as a couple at the Invictus Games in 2017! Maybe they’ll be spending the holiday with stylist turned BFF Jessica Mulroney?
The statement continued:
“The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family. They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
As you’re likely aware, there were rumors the couple wouldn’t be spending the holiday season with the Brits and would opt for some sunshine in El Lay instead. Buckingham Palace confirmed the rumblings with a statement:
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the duchess’ mother, Doria. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the royal family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
But they’ve apparently been doing anything but relaxing during their break from royal duties. The 38-year-old has seemingly been in “full work mode” while strategizing with a Los Angeles PR exec on her latest venture: a new charity. Hopefully, she’ll be able to disconnect up in Canada!!
