Woah! We can honestly say we NEVER saw this coming.
Israeli scientists have discovered that mice are more accurate than dogs or x-ray machines to detect bombs and drug couriers so they have created a detector containing three concealed cartridges with 8 specially trained mice to do the job.
The contraption looks similar to a full-body scanner, but instead of x-ray, rely’s solely on specially trained mice that sense traces of drugs and run to a side chamber where the trigger an alarm.
Inventor Eran Lumbroso who hopes larger companies will help with the final stages of development said:
“It is as if they are smelling a cat and escaping. We detect the escape.”
For those concerned with animal cruelty it seems like the mice are taken care of. They work in 4 hour shifts and have fresh air pumped into their respective cartridge.
