We have new details about the domestic violence incident involving James Kennedy.
As we’ve been reporting, the 32-year-old television personality was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence on Tuesday night — hours after “causing a huge scene” and displaying “erratic” behavior at Kathy Hilton’s annual holiday party. Law enforcement sources revealed to TMZ that police were called to his home in Burbank, California after an eyewitness saw him and a woman arguing. The situation escalated past an argument when James allegedly grabbed her.
Police didn’t find any visible injuries on the woman but still determined this was a domestic incident and took him away in handcuffs. He has since been released from jail on $20,000 bail and said in a statement via his attorneys that he hopes the Burbank City Attorney’s Office doesn’t pursue formal charges against him. They said:
“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James. We understand that there were no injuries and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”
Hmm. We had no idea who the woman involved was at first. However, we now have a source close to the situation confirming her identity to Us Weekly on Friday. It was his current girlfriend, Ally Lewbar. Oh no. However, the insider also insisted the whole situation was “a complete misunderstanding!” What?! They explained:
“They were arguing and a neighbor was outside and heard them fighting and called the police and the police officers came.”
Are they saying this neighbor just overreacted? Really? Considering both of his exes weren’t shocked by a DV arrest, it’s hard to believe this was simply a “misunderstanding.” Not to mention that this isn’t the first time he’s been accused of being abusive toward Ally. According to the source, though, Ally does not plan to move forward with charges. Nor does it look like the astrologer is dumping him! Ally and James were both spotted at their shared home days after the arrest!
