This story is as disgusting as it is tragic.
In what’s just the latest in a series of never-ending violence against zoo animals, Pinky the Flamingo from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay was put down on Tuesday after she was randomly attacked by a park visitor.
According to witnesses, Joseph Anthony Corrao, 45, allegedly reached over Pinky’s fence, grabbed her by the neck, and forcefully threw her to the ground at 6:45 p.m. EST… for no apparent reason!

While the Chilean dancing flamingo did not die upon impact, park veterinarians had no choice but to euthanize her due to her injuries being too severe.
The park released a statement remembering Pinky shortly after her death, saying:
“Pinky was a beloved member of the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay family and made many appearances on behalf of the park’s conservation and education efforts. She will be sorely missed.”
What makes this story even scarier is that Joe was visiting the park with his two young sons… so he clearly didn’t care about traumatizing them or the animals!
The Orlando native has already been to jail for three years for three different crimes, and we’re hoping his newest charges of felony and animal cruelty earn him even more time behind bars.
Rest in peace, Pinky.
