Polo Horse Dies During Match

A $100K polo pony has sadly passed away during play.
In front of VIPs Saturday, a horse collapsed during a polo match between Circa and Nacho Figueras’ team.
The Circa team member had to jump off the falling horse and walked away unharmed.
A rep for the event said the following on the unfortunate scene:

Polo is an extreme sport, and the horses are extreme athletes. The care and well-being of these horses is the most important part of polo to all involved in the sport.
There is always a chance of injury to either horse or rider, as in all equestrian disciplines. There is always a vet on-site . . . there were two on this particular day.
