Scheana Shay Breaks Her Silence On James Kennedy’s Domestic Violence Arrest -- Why She Was ‘Hesitant’ To Speak Out!

Scheana Shay Explains Why She Was ‘Hesitant’ To Speak Out About James Kennedy’s Domestic Violence Arrest

Scheana Shay has finally broken her silence about her former Vanderpump Rules co-star James Kennedy’s domestic violence arrest.

Ever since the altercation with his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, in which he allegedly picked her up and “threw her to the ground” at their Burbank, California, home, several co-stars have condemned his actions. Lala Kent, Kristen Doute, Rachel Leviss… But the others? It’s been radio silent for most of the VPR crew, and fans want to know why. They even took to the comments section on their social media accounts to demand an answer! Well, Scheana noticed the call-out from people online, and she’s ready to explain her silence.

During the Q&A portion of her Scheananigans podcast on Friday, the 39-year-old reality star pointed out that most of the questions she received from fans were about James’ domestic violence arrest. She said:

“I’ve seen the comments from all of you asking why I haven’t spoke out about this. So first off, I wanna say I was respecting Ally’s privacy as she requested, and I didn’t want to add to any headlines because she’s going through enough right now.”

That’s for sure. Ally has a lot to figure out for herself, like what she wants to do now — move on and stay with James. And the last thing she most likely needs is one of her cast members to make things more complicated for her by adding to the noise. (Well, certainly if they say anything unsupportive…)

While Scheana didn’t plan on talking about the scandal at all, she soon realized “staying silent” may lead people to think she “supports [Kennedy’s] behavior,” which couldn’t be farther from the truth. She “absolutely” does not support him, she’s on Ally’s side all the way. The Good As Gold singer continued:

“I do think it’s important to speak on this. I just was hesitant because sometimes I feel like if I say something, I get s**t for it. If I don’t say something, I get s**t for it. And it’s lose-lose. But this is a serious subject, so I need to say something.”

Due to the “very sensitive” topic, she prepared a few statements to read on the podcast episode because she wanted to “get it right.” When it comes to Ally, Scheana said:

“I want to keep the line of communication and support open to Ally. I want her to know that she is supported. I don’t want to say something that then puts her in a position where it’s like she has to choose between a friendship or a relationship, and I just don’t want there to be one less mechanism of support for her, so that’s just only gonna make things harder.”

As for James, she slammed the DJ’s alleged behavior, saying he needs to “get help” now:

“I hope that James views this as a rock-bottom moment and is serious about committing to a healing plan versus just seeing this as something that’s gonna ruin the world tour or residency.”

Not the Justin Timberlake DWI arrest reference! But she really does have his number there. From what we’ve heard, James does see this as a “going to ruin” the world tour kind of thing! He’s reportedly worried about how this situation will hurt his career and reputation — rather than feeling remorseful for his alleged behavior toward Ally. And that’s his main “motivation to seek help” and focus on his “sobriety” again…

Regardless, Scheana said she wants James to “live life with healthy relationships” and “deal with his trauma that doesn’t involve projecting it onto others.” The Bravoleb has “spoken to Ally” and “check[s] in with her often.” However, she did not share the current status of her relationship with him. Does she not plan to shut him out as Lala did? Hmm. We’ll see. But for now, it sounds like she’s sticking by Ally through this difficult time.
