Once upon a time, Selena Gomez was hardly ever seen without Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz — but all of a sudden they stopped being friends! What happened?
We’re sure you remember the days when Selly G was SO close with the Peltz-Beckhams that there were jokes they were in a “throuple”. They were always hanging out, vacationing together, they were inseparable! But last year when the pop star married Benny Blanco, her good pals weren’t in attendance, which led to rumors swirling that they weren’t friends anymore. Oh no.
And THEN, in January 2026, Nicola removed a bunch of Instagram posts that featured Selena, cryptically writing:
“Some friendships come with expiration dates.”
Ouch!
A new source for DailyMail.com is finally explaining what allegedly went down! On Wednesday, the insider said Selena and Nicola’s friendship started off so sweetly:
“Nicola and Selena actually met at an event when she saw Justin and Hailey and needed a wingwoman and Nicola swooped in and invited her to sit with her.”
After this, though, the source claimed the pals are “no longer friends due to Selena’s insecurity”:
“But eventually, Selena felt Nicola was stealing her friends as she started hanging out with her friends without her present and that bothered Selena, so Selena separated herself.”
Oof! If that’s true, we wonder WHY Nicola was doing that??

Another source said the reason their friendship fizzled out, too, was because Selena got married:
“Selena’s life changed – in her eyes, for the better – once she fell in love with and married Benny. These days, her world is much more low-key. She spends most of her time working, writing and recording music, and simply enjoying life with him. She still sees friends at award shows or the occasional house gathering that she and Benny host, but for the most part, they’ve embraced a quieter lifestyle and stepped away from the constant celebrity scene of going out, partying, and always being seen.”
They added:
“Because of that shift, friendships with people like Nicola and Brooklyn have naturally taken more of a backseat. It’s similar to what happens after high school – you can reconnect years later and have an amazing time catching up, but you no longer spend every day together.”
They also claimed the other source’s info about “bad blood” wasn’t true! This insider says things just fizzled out naturally:
“Not because there’s any bad blood, but because life has taken everyone in very different directions. Selena looks back fondly on the memories she shared with Nicola, but that chapter of her life has passed, and her focus now is centered on her immediate family and the life she’s building for the future.”
Hmm… Well, deleting her IG posts and sharing that cryptic quote doesn’t sound like no “bad blood” to us from Nicola’s end! Maybe they’ve gotten past it by now, but that didn’t come from nowhere. Especially when Selena and Nicola used to say they were “sisters”. If there wasn’t a storm brewing, why delete the posts and get cryptic about it?
