Whoa. The NFL is lucky to have Taylor Swift!
It’s no secret Taylor’s romance with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce has brought a lot of new attention to the sport as many of her fans started tuning in each week to catch a glimpse of the pop star cheering on her boyfriend. And a lot of those Swifties stayed and became football fans! And with all this new support comes a heck of a lot of dough!!!

According to new data obtained by MarketWatch earlier this month, the singer helped the NFL bring in nearly….
$1 BILLION! Holy s**t!
The football league has seen a massive spike in ticket sales and merch sales since the romance started two years ago, mostly among female fans. And they don’t even having to do anything different to get all this attention — which makes this a free payday for them!
The couple made their romance public on September 24, 2023 when Tay Tay attended a game. From then until the 2024 AFC Championship Game on January 28, 2024, Taylor helped generate $366,753,290 in total equivalent brand value for the NFL, per Apex Marketing. Wow!
But if you think that’s impressive, just wait. The numbers doubled this past season! She helped bring in another $634,304,163 from the 2024 AFC Championship to the day after this year’s Championship, January 27, 2025. That means for these two seasons, the “Taylor Swift effect” has resulted in $992,361,912 for the NFL. Insane!
And sports fans have the audacity to boo her! She’s helping this game out SO much! Because of her, the salary cap has increased, meaning each team can pay more to players, which is a great outcome for everyone all around!
Reflecting on this incredible outcome, Apex Marketing president Eric Smallwood credited social media and digital news for being big factor’s in the rising momentum, explaining:
“The ‘Swift effect’ and the corresponding media exposure continued for the NFL and the Chiefs prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season. The media blitz continued as the Chiefs kept winning games and were featured on national broadcasts, leading into the playoffs and now the Super Bowl.”
He added:
“Taylor was visible at games, and those appearances garnered media attention from sports-media outlets and those entertainment media outlets not normally covering the NFL.”
Ian Trombetta, the NFL’s senior vice president for social, influencer and content marketing, added in a statement that the league’s pages have seen an uptick in engagement from women from 13 to 24 years old. That’s the power of Taylor!
That also means if and when Travis retires, the NFL is gonna really feel the loss!
