Tony Parker, Spurs star and ex-hubby to Eva Longoria, is in a bit of hot water.
It’s all about a photo├óΓé¼┬ª one that was taken years ago!
There’s an old pic of Tony posing with French comedian Dieudonne M’bala M’bala, doing a “quenelle” gesture.
To some, the gesture is an inverted Nazi salute!!
So we can totes see why some people were pretty upset with him!!
Tony responded to all the criticism, saying:
“While this gesture has been part of French culture for many years, it was not until recently that I learned of the very negative concerns associated with it. When I was photographed making that gesture three years ago, I thought it was part of a comedy act and did not know that it could be in any way offensive or harmful. Since I have been made aware of the seriousness of this gesture, I will certainly never repeat the gesture and sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding or harm relating to my actions. Hopefully this incident will serve to educate others that we need to be more aware that things that may seem innocuous can actually have a history of hate and hurt.”
Well, at least he recognizes how offensive he was being!
Do U believe him? Or is he just playing ignorant now that an old, embarrassing photo has leaked??
Either way, we can certainly trust he won’t be doing the gesture again.
That much we can believe.
