Turtles Saved From Being Dinner!

50 rare Yellow-Headed Temple Turtles were rescued from an illegal smuggling ring in Hong Kong.

These turtles are considered to be endangered, but would have been sold to people in China, since their meat and eggs are used in Chinese medicine.

After these animals were rescued from poachers, they were airlifted to safety. They were brought to Atlanta International Airport where they were met by TSA staff and transported to Jacksonville Zoo for inspection.

Good thing animal activists got involved in this one!

We would hate for these turtles to become extinct.
