While waiting for a flight to take off, a United passenger spotted something out their window.

It was a dog in a pet carrier, sitting unattended on the runway, on a rainy day, for over half an hour!!
Barbara Galletly, the United passenger who spotted the dog, snapped a photo and shared it to Twitter, writing:

After the photo was shared it pretty quickly went viral!
Twitter users were enraged and began tweeting directly at United airlines, demanding an apology and even calling for a boycott of the airline!

Several angry tweets read:
“This is an intentional act that screams negligence. I have always flown United but will now do all I can to avoid your airline.”
“Award for worst use of Twitter today goes to United about concerns for a dog left on the tarmac in the rain.”
“Don’t understand how an airline in 2014 doesn’t know when a social media issue is about to break.”
Even celebs got in on the United hate!
Singer Sia tweeted:
I will never fly @United again. Thanks @theregoesbabs for exposing their shitty treatment of our beloved pets.

Seems like United has yet to properly respond.
We’ll be really interested to see how they handle this!
Poor pup! We just hope the dog is okay.
UPDATE: United Airlines have responded with the following:
“The pet was protected from the rain under the wing of the aircraft, standard procedure as we care for our pet passengers.”
So the dog was protected from the rain, under the wing of a huge aircraft, on an active runway. That’s “care.”
At least the pup wasn’t wet, we guess.
