Aw!
Alicia Silverstone just isn’t having an luck at the box office. After Butter made less than $80K during its opening weekend, her reunion with Clueless director Amy Heckerling did even WORSE!
Vamps, a romantic comedy starring Silverstone and Krysten Ritter as vampires looking for love in the Big Apple, scored only $500 this weekend.
But considering the movie was already on VOD and — thanks to Hurricane Sandy — was only playing in one theater in El Lay, it actually didn’t do that bad.
Chasing Mavericks, for example, tanked in wide release and made $621 from each of the 2,000 theaters it was playing at during its first weekend out.
So, looking at the bright side, at least they didn’t waste any money on a wide release! A penny saved is a penny earned, right?
We’ll always have a special spot in our heart for Mz. Silverstone and the director of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, so we’re still going to check out their latest collaboration — even if it bites.
