Earlier this morning, we reported an interesting story concerning a Rochester, NY based grocery store’s decision to pull a commercial they had running for the holiday season featuring Alec Baldwin. At the time, the store was receiving “dozens of complaints” from customers in the aftermath of Alec’s confrontation on an American Airlines flight.
However, dozens of complaints don’t care to the outrage found on Twitter, Facebook and across the Internet after they indeed pulled the ad, so Wegmans has released the following statement to confirm that they are reinstating the ads.
According to their rep:
“We regret ending the Alec Baldwin holiday commercials one week earlier than planned in response to a couple of dozen complaints. We have decided to run the commercials again, effective immediately.
Clearly, many more people support Alec, as evidenced by the hundreds and hundreds of tweets, emails, and phone calls we have received. We enjoyed working with Alec Baldwin and his mom, Carol, and would do it again. We appreciate all the kind things they have said about Wegmans and respect the good work they do for communities.”
Let bygones be bygones, we say.
We’re glad they gave their ad a second chance.
