Miley Cyrus‘ Lolita spread in Vanity Fair helped the mag sell 435,000 issues at newsstands.

The Miley issue was the strongest seller since last November!

The falling star wasn’t even on the cover (the cover image was a 40-year-old photo of Robert F. Kennedy).

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the scandalous Hannah Montana feature elicited a record number of letters from readers — a record-breaking 915, mostly negative, letters.

No story has reportedly come close to sparking such a response!
