Nicole Richie is out of the country. The pregnant Simple Life star was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport hiding her baby bump with a huge pillow as she and fiance Joel Madden headed to Calgary, Canada, where Good Charlotte is scheduled to perform.
One small little detail…..
Nicole's DUI trial is scheduled to begin tomorrow. It's supposed to begin tomorrow. However, her lawyer, Shawn Chapman-Holley, made an appearance in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday.
Nicole's asking for a new trial date of August 5. The reason for the continuance? Richie's expert witness, Dr. Terrance McGee, can't testify until the August date. Dr. McGee is an expert on drug abuse.
She can't find another expert?????
If Paris didn't get any special treatment, Nicole better not get any! It doesn't matter that she's pregnant!

Courts routinely adjourn these type of hearings to accomdate lawyers and experts etc. Wait until the results of the hearing before drawing a conclusion. As fror leaving the country, are you kidding. It's not like she is on trial for murder. Gimmee a break.
Nicole is not asking for special treatment. She is exercising her Constitutional right to put on a proper defense. If that means she needs a continuance so that the expert witness of her choosing can testify, then so be it. The judge would be violating her Constitutional rights if he did not allow her more time.

My sister went to jail for 10 days in "The Tents" in Phoenix AZ for a DUI AND she has to have that breathalizer contraption that tests to see if she has alcohol in her system in order to drive her car. The tents are outdoor jail facilities. By the way, my sister was pregnant. You do the math…or does being rich make it "All better?!!"
It is ABSOLTELLY different. Her baby didn't drink and drive - she did. The baby in utero will experience all of Nicole's stress x10! Stress during pregnancy CAN, HAS and in most cases does effet the baby (devlopmental probelsm, low birth weight - excuse the irony, poor organ development and more. Regardless of WHY she got pregnant we should still NOT punish the innocent. Come on Perez, not everything is soooo black and white.

Ok, just because she is pregnant doesn't mean she should get any kind of special treatment. I work in law enforcement and there are PLENTY of women who are pregnant in our jails. I'm not talking 6 weeks pregnant either. Some of the women actually give birth while they're still in jail, granted they go to the hospital of course. Once they are well enough to go back to the jail, the baby is sent home with a family member. Just because she is a pregnant celebrity makes no difference in how she should be punished.
