Could things get any worse for The Gosselins??
Apparently so!
Viewers of the show are calling out the family on animal abuse!!
More specifically, the mistreatment of the family's two German Shepherds, Shoka and Nala.
Jon Gosselin told People earlier this month that their eight children aren't the most caring pet owners when it comes to the two pups: "Those kids beat them up, climb on them, pull their tails, bite at them, drag them around and everything you can imagine not to do to an animal, they've done," said Jon.
The Humane Society of Berks County, Pennsylvania, have received multiple complaints about Jon's quote from People, enough for Gosselin to do some damage control and release a statement!
So what'd Jon have to say?
Gosselin writes:
I'd like to set the record straight. We understand the responsibilities of being good dog owners. Whenever my kids are with Shoka and Nala, everyone is carefully supervised to ensure that no one – dog or child – is injured. Shoka and Nala are loyal companions who we consider members of our family. We would never do anything to hurt them, and treat them with the respect and love that they deserve.
Karel I. Minor, the executive director of the Humane Society in Berks County has also debunked the abuse cries, stating, "We have no credible reason to believe in any way that that there is cruelty going on."

I'm sorry but all the things he said the kids do to the dogs is HARDLY animal abuse. They're KIDS! What do you expect them to do? How about these people who are complaining watch the Animal Police show on Animal planet & THEN compare what Jon says the kids do to the dogs to what is shown on that show & decide if what the kids do is animal abuse. It just seems that everyone is looking to complain about any minute thing the Gosselins do or say now. Get the fuck over it. They're 2 human beings who felt the need to find affection in someone who was not their spouse's arms. I'm sure half of you fuckers out there have done that shit at one time as well.

Some people are desperate for this family to fail. It was obvious he was merely exaggerating as people do when they have strong feelings about something, as he does for these loyal family pets. What's next - oh they cut down a tree on their property! Call out the environmentalists!

OH PLEASE…he didn't have to explain himself. Anyone who has kids and pets knows that they will be rough. my kids are rough sometimes with the dogs and the dogs are sometimes rough with the kids. It is what it is.

Hell they don't pay attention even on camera when one of the kids are whopping the other. How can they watch 8 kids with 2 dogs? Kids are kids with pets. The dogs are not harmed, but people seeing it may think it is 'abuse'. Maybe if both of them stop talking so much in the tabs, no one would have anything to complain about. So much, for keeping their personal lives personal. They're both big blabbermouths.
uhhhh, my 5 year old sister does the same thing to our dog and its a little lap dog…. its part of being a dog.
I don't know if there's any actual abuse. However, I do think it's pretty risky to animals in a house with that many small children.

I'm not a Jon fan but give me a break. Every single thing he says or does is put under a very strong microscope. And as an animal lover, I'm pretty sure he was just saying that the dogs are very family friendly and that he feels the dogs would never harm the kids. People have said worse on the Dog Whisperer….where's the uproar about that? I can't believe I'm actually starting to feel bad for Jon because he and that midlife crisis he's going through really annoy me.

The Humane Society should come in and take the dogs aways and then Children and Youth should come in and take the kids away.
Everyone that is saying thats normal when kids are around, and is acting like THATS ACCEPTABLE, are fucking morons. True, that is how small children handle pets, TOO roughly, and parents should either keep kids away from pets or teach their kids HOW to handle pets. However, parents in the US are sooo FUCKING LAZY when it comes to parenting, neither is hardly ever done.
this is just stupid!!! I have a 2 year old and a teacup pomeranian, and my daughter messes with the dog so much!!! She pulls her tail picks her up by her neck and teases her all the time. While i don't condone these acts, thats just how kids are! I mean, people pick on everything about this family??

You should see what my son does to the cat. But the cat loves him he's the only one that actually pays him any attention. It's a love/hate thing…………..it's cute.

Re: RyansGirl19 – Yes, a 5 year old can yank on a tail or ears and if the dog has had enough (and who could blame it?) it might retaliate and bite….the sad thing is, everyone thinks it's ok to let their children do this to an animal, but the second the animal responds with it's natural instincts it is in danger of being put down.
I really wish there were more real Parents than Breeders in the world, but unfortunately, most parents suck at parenting.
