We barely believe it!

Ashley Judd went from the foot of the Congressional steps to scoring a major role in Divergent in just a few short days!!

The film began shooting earlier this week, but somehow the Double Jeopardy star still squeezed her way into the cast at the last minute and will play Shailene Woodley's mama!!!

Mrz. Judd, who was recently targeted by Mitch McConnell's nasty

Whoa! We're not sure how Mother Jones got these candid recordings of Mitch McConnell and his staff, but one thing is clear- they were NOT planning to fight fair against Ashley Judd!

The Double Jeopardy star, who was briefly considering running against the Kentucky Senator, was the target of what's called an "opposition research" meeting- basically, what used to be called digging up dirt and slinging mud!

In the recording, McConnell's staff reads excerpts from Ashley's memoir and listen to recordings of her speaking, trying to find every little thing she's ever done wrong they can use against her.

At one point, they listen to her talk about her religious views, in which she says:

And we were sooo looking forward to seeing her in cleavage-flaunting power suits, too!

Ashley Judd broke the hearts of just about everyone in Kentucky this afternoon as she announced she will not be running for U.S. Senate!

The 44-year-old actress delivered the disappointing news via Twitter, promising that she'd continue to fight the good fight, but that right now wasn't the right time for her to make her run.

She admitted

Ashley Judd hasn't even officially announced her campaign for Senate, and she already has one vote!

Of course, it is coming from her big sister, but hey- a vote is a vote!

And considering they don't even agree on politics, Wynonna Judd casting her vote for Ashley is mighty generous! She says:

No, Ashley Judd is not set to star in another political thriller; she's looking towards the real deal!

Gossip about the A-lister and social activist's plans to run for U.S. senate has been spreading faster than peanut butter and jelly, but it is now being predicted that she will in fact be announcing her Democratic nomination this May!

Even though the Missing star has yet to officially confirm the announcement, a source from MSNBC anticipates that Ashley will go up against Republican minority Mitch McConnell for the powerful position.

In a statement over the weekend, the actress said:

Missus Judd went to Washington!

And we don't mean the Double Jeopardy star stopped by Denzel's place for lemonade and chocolate-covered pretzels!

Ashley Judd trekked on over to our nation's capital this week and met with folks from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee!

Right now the 44-year-old actress is merely dangling her feet in the water, testing the temperature for a possible Senate run in Kentucky!

Inside sources say she is "leaning toward" diving in head first and plans to decide by Derby Day.

But at what price?

Political waters are more shark-infested than most! Karl Rove and his cronies already began their smear campaign against the sensational starlet because she strongly supported President Obama during his re-election!

Can the Hollywood hottie handle a messy divorce and a political run at the same time?!

We cannot wait to find out!
