Looks like she's taking a page right out of Anderson Cooper's book!
Just as her fellow news anchor named his upcoming syndicated program, Anderson, Katie Couric has announced that her show, to debut on ABC in the Fall of 2012, will be titled Katie!
Good news for Miley Cyrus! Apparently, Katie Couric is going to let her keep those testez she's been hiding between her legs all these years. LOL!
While appearing on The View, Katie and Whoopi Goldberg debated the pop superstar's smoking habit.
Katie is disappointed in Miley's unhealthy decision and fears her actions may encourage her young fans to pick up the nasty habit too, but Whoopi seemed to think Miley's nicotine addiction shouldn't be blamed for underage smoking.
After Whoopi made her point, Katie clarified that despite her disappointment in Miley, she's "not gonna castrate her because she's smoking."
Her remark was quickly questioned by Joy Behar who asked, "Miley has a penis?"
Ha! We were all thinking it, Joy!
Do U think Katie meant to say "chastise" or was she actually referring to the removal of the male reproductive organs? Watch it all go down for yourself in the video above!
Looks like Katie Couric's replacement is JUST getting by…
Last month, we heard that 60 Minutes' Scott Pelley was taking over Katie's CBS Evening News anchor position, and we were feeling pretty good about it.
Now, Pelley has taken over, and his ratings aren't BAD at all…but they're not anything fantastic.
During his first week, Pelley averaged 5.7 million viewers, which matched Couric's average ratings for May. His ratings were a bit LOWER, though, than the average for Katie's substitute anchor Harry Smith.
Ah well! Hopefully he's able to maintain his current ratings at the very least.
Have U been watching Scott Pelley on CBS Evening News? Do U think he's doing a good job filling Katie's shoes?
Spider-Man/Pretty Woman producer Laura Ziskin has lost the battle to breast cancer at 61-years-old.
Aside from an extremely impressive film career, Ziskin was also one of the founders of the Stand Up to Cancer research movement, which is an initiative "intended to enable cutting-edge research targeting all types of cancer led by 'dream teams' of doctors."
Here's what Laura's Stand Up to Cancer co-founder Katie Couric had to say about her:
"Laura was one of the most courageous people I’ve ever known. Her fearlessness in the face of this relentless killer inspires everyone on the SU2C team to redouble our efforts to make cancer history."
Aside from her film producing career and her work with Stand up to Cancer, Ziskin was also the first woman to produce the Academy Awards ceremony on her own in 2002, and she produced the first-ever "green" ceremony in 2007.
Such an impressive, inspirational woman! She will be missed.
Our thoughts go out to her family, friends, and peers during this difficult time.
As a treat to herself for leaving the CBS Evening News, Katie Couric has just purchased a brand new Hamptons mansion cottage - and for the very reasonable price of $6.3 million!
Check out some photos of the seven bedroom, six bathroom property, which also features a pool, tennis court, and beachside view (above and below)!
Wow! Absolutely stunning, no?
Not exactly a cottage, but hey! Sometimes you just gotta splurge a little!
LOLz!
Enjoy the new digs - and the new job, gurl!
Update: Turns out it's actually not a new purchase. A rep tells PerezHilton.com, "She actually bought the house in the Hamptons a few years ago." Either way, still a great getaway home.
Moments ago, the news became official that Katie Couric will making ABC the home of her new syndicated talk show. That's pretty big news for anyone who hasn't read a newspaper, turned on the TV, scanned the Internet or been to our website for the last few weeks. Still, it's nice to have it confirmed!
Anyway, Katie released a statement following the announcement, sharing her thoughts on returning to the network she shares a very special bond with. She said:
“I’m very happy to be returning to the network where I began my career as a desk assistant in 1979. It is tremendously exciting to have the creative freedom to develop my own show with Anne Sweeney, the Disney/ABC TV Group and Jeff [Zucker], and to contribute to such a vibrant, innovative news division."
The project, which according to her contract, Katie will be part owner of (translation: CHA-CHING!), will debut on the alphabet network in September 2012.
Well, it was a hard road to get here Katie, but we hope you got everything you wanted! Best of luck with the show! We'll be seeing ya in 2012!
At least, we think it is! Almost positive, actually!
Angelina Jolie was at the Berlin International Film Festival today, where she is screening her directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood and Honey out of competition, when she announced that the long-rumored project was next up for her - even though she didn't specifically call it by name!
She explains:
"I haven't acted in two years, and I haven't done anything else since this . The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie. The best thing to find that balance is to do something that is just for children. You know, you find different ways to make things matter. When, for example, you do fun action movies, they are empowering for my daughters."
And since we've gotten word that the Luc Besson movie she had been eyeing seems to have stalled, and Maleficent recently got Robert Stromberg as a director, we think it's safe to say that the Linda Woolverton-written adaptation of the classic fairy tale is definitely where we'll see her next!
