Katie Couric May Announce ABC Deal On Monday

Katie Couric ABC

It's no surprise, but Katie Couric is heading to ABC where she will be hosting her own talk show, as well as having some kind of role on ABC News and possibly 20/20.

It's not official yet because an announcement can't be made before the matching window expires at her former employer CBS, which is this weekend.

Sources are saying the announcement from ABC and Couric will happen as early as Monday, we will be keep you posted when her transition is OFFICIAL.

We think Katie totally deserves her own talk show and will be able to carry it with ease, especially with the gap left by talk show queen bee Oprah!

Best of luck at ABC, Katie!

How nice!

Check out the video (above) of ABC World News wishing Katie Couric luck in her future endeavors.

As we said before, we're thinking Katie will end up at ABC, so it would seem particularly appropriate that the World News would show their support.

What do U think? Is ABC showing Katie some love because she's about to join their team?

Katie Couric Vs CBS: The Final Straw!

Filed under: TV News > Katie Couric

katie-couric-cbs-news.jpg

Katie Couric is officially off of CBS' payroll, but there are some conflicting stories as to why Katie finally made the decision to bow out.

Sources connected with the network are suggesting that Katie left after she felt slighted by the limited projects CBS was willing to give her. In negotiations, supposedly the network was ready to offer her occasional pieces on 60 Minutes - and that's it!

Burn? We think so!

However, if you confer with Katie's team, they'll tell you a totally different story. Her camp is insisting that CBS offered her everything short of the moon to stay onboard, including 8 to 10 pieces a year on 60 Minutes, an unlimited number of pieces on CBS Sunday Morning, another Grammy special and loads more!

In the end, it was her desired to have her own syndicated talk show the clinched the deal for Katie. As you well know now, she's been offered a $20 million guarantee from ABC for the show and there's just no walking away from that.

Hopefully, her deal will be sealed up soon to make it all worth it. Otherwise, from her teams perspective, she walked away from a hell of a lot!

Daytime Drama! Could Katie Couric Bring About The End Of General Hospital?!?!

katie couric could bring about end of general hospital

Please don't do it, Katie! This move could mark the end of soap operas as we know it!

Back in April, we were sad to hear that All My Children will be gone forever in September, and One Life to Live will say goodbye in January.

Now, we've learned that Katie Couric MAY be signing a $20 million deal with ABC for a one-hour daytime talk show that would air in General Hospital's timeslot! Nooooooo!!!!!!!

If the deal goes through, Katie's show would start up in September. No word as to whether or not GH would be canceled or put into another time slot, but unfortunately we're NOT optimistic for the show if that happens.

Look, Katie…we understand you're looking for new opportunities now that you've parted ways with CBS Evening News, but soap operas are an extremely endangered species.

Think about it. If you spare GH, you could be a HERO to lots and lots of devoted fans! Enrique Iglesias will sing songs about you! LOLz.

Would U like to see a Katie Couric daytime talk show on ABC? Or would U prefer the continued existence of General Hospital?

It's Official! Scott Pelley Named Katie Couric's CBS Evening News Replacement

scott pelley officially named as katie couric successor

Last month, we heard that 60 Minutes' Scott Pelley was the top candidate to take over Katie Couric's CBS Evening News anchor position after her exit.

It seemed very clear that the position was Pelley's, and sure enough, the official announcement came today that he'll take over Katie's position when she leaves the show.

Here's what he had to say about the new opportunity:

"The opportunity to lead the organization as managing editor of the evening news is something you aspire to, something you never believe you could actually achieve."

And here's what CBS News chairman/60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager had to say about it:

"There's a great tradition here and I think Scott's a terrific symbol of that tradition. [He's] as good a reporter as has ever worked at this network."

And here's what Katie Couric has said about Pelley:

"[Pelley] is a great reporter and a real gentleman, who cares deeply about the news. I know he'll put his own unique imprimatur on the broadcast and will do a great job carrying on the tradition of the CBS Evening News."

Such nice words from Katie to her successor.

Good luck, Scott! We'll def give you a watch!

What do U think about Scott Pelley as a replacement for Katie Couric? Will he be able to fill her shoes?

Meredith Viera Is Leaving The Today Show!

meredith-viera-is-leaving-the-today-show

Good lord! Everyone's quitting!

Just days after Katie Couric announced that she would be leaving CBS Evening News, Meredith Viera has followed suit, and revealed yesterday at that she will be leaving her spot on The Today Show in June - three months before her contract with the show expires!

Meanwhile, Ann Curry will be filling her spot as co-host with Matt Lauer, who is ALSO rumored to be thinking about leaving next year, and Natalie Morales will be taking a spot as a newsreader.

Although no official announcement has been made, sources close to the anchor explain that Viera has been considering a switch for quite some time, but only came to the decision earlier in the week. Her motivation is said to be completely personal, as she's preparing her youngest daughter for college in the fall and wants to be more involved as her husband unfortunately battles multiple sclerosis.

Can't say we blame her! Family should always be a top priority!

As sad as we are to see her go, we think she's done a great job during her time on The Today Show, and we wish her nothing but the best in future endeavors!

Sarah Palin Mocks Katie Couric!

Palin On Couric Leaving

Sarah! Not cool!

Are you STILL mad about her asking legitimate questions and you not answering them very well?? Shame on her for doing her job!

All sarcasm aside, Sarah Palin made some ridiculous comments about Katie Couric stepping down from her CBS job!

Katie in her leaving statement had said that she wanted to pursue an avenue with "multidimensional storytelling."

This is what the former governor had to say:

"Yeah, and I hear that she wants to now engage in more 'multidimensional storytelling' versus I guess just the 'straight on, read into the, that teleprompter screen storytelling.' More power to her. I wish her well in her 'multidimensional storytelling.'"

That's pretty uncalled for this late in the game, Sarah. Not to mention, pretty classy. Like, high school classy.

It's time to just let it go, statements like this do nothing to help your popularity if you do decide to actually run.

Why are we still wondering what she thinks, again? Is she planning on running? Is she doing anything?

If U know, let us know!
