The last time True Detective season 2 killed off one of its main characters, it turned out to be a smokescreen — more of a TV cliffhanger than the type on HBO.

But on Sunday night's penultimate episode, someone finally met their ultimate end.

After last week's deadly sex party (you don't get to say that on every recap), the team is running their renegade murder investigation out of a seedy motel.

Move on over, Benedict Cumberbatch, you've got company!

According to reports, Rachel McAdams is Marvel's choice to be female lead for the upcoming Dr. Strange, though it's unknown if she has yet been formally offered.

McAdams had previously confirmed that she was indeed talking to the studio about a lead role in Dr. Strange, though at that point she didn't reveal very much insider info:

"It's still super-early days, and I don't know where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all."

As of now, not only is McAdams' involvement unconfirmed, any role she'd potentially play is also unknown.

Cumberbatch, of course, is set to be Stephen Vincent Strange, the former neurosurgeon-turned-Sorcerer Supreme who protects Earth.

The film will premiere November 4, 2016.

Swing and a miss.

Wrong sport, we know, but Jake Gyllenhaal could have taken a bit of a bigger fashion risk at the premiere of his new boxing movie Southpaw in New York on Monday.

The 34-year-old leading man went with a traditional grey suit that just didn't offer much pop to the red carpet.

But since it is a sports movie, we'll give Jake a pass for going so conservative.

On the other hand, Jake's been getting plenty of Oscar buzz for the role, so maybe a clean shave would make him seem a little happier!

Regardless of his performance at the premiere, make sure to catch Southpaw also starring Rachel McAdams and Forest Whitaker when it hits theaters July 24!

What a fine looking pair!

On Wednesday, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams did those looking forward to South Paw proud at 2015 ESPYS when they graced the red carpet with their dapper looks.

For one, we love Rachel's rings by Alison Lou and hot red Cristiano Burani pant suit — it showed off her svelte body perfectly! Similarly, Jake proudly wore a dashing suit.

We hope this foreshadows more great red carpets to come for these two!
