ABC Family has officially cancelled their show Bunheads. Created by Amy Sherman Palladino — best known for her Gilmore Girls fame — and starring Broadway’s very own Sutton Foster, the show didn’t make it past its first season.
Upon news of the cancellation, ABC Family said:
Strap on your tutus because Bunheads ain't going nowhere!!!
ABC has given the amazing show a backorder of eight new episodes, which means that the finale that just aired was actually just a summer finale, and the season finale will be airing at another point in time.
Although we were almost certain
Lace up those ballet shoes and practice those pliés, because there's a new dance teacher in town!
We are less than a month away from ABC Family's premiere of Bunheads — the network's new scripted dance drama, brought to us by the creator of Gilmore Girls!
Not too long ago, we showed you a sneak peek of the series, and now we have another little glimpse to feast our eyes upon!
Take a peek at the first look (above)!
We already LOVE Sutton Foster in her TV debut! This is slowly turning into our summertime obsession!
Bunheads premieres June 11 at 9pm…be sure to tune in and check it out!!
ABC is showing a lot of Sutton Foster flesh (below) in an attempt to generate interest for Bunheads, the bizarre ballet show we’re TOTES excited to watch.
Sutton is a totally toned two-time Tony Award winning performer who plays a classically trained dancer that becomes a showgirl.
Uhhhh… Why, yes, I would love some!!
Bunheads is helmed by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the genius auteur behind six great Gilmore Girls season.
The show also stars the HIGHlarious
Cameron Frye Alan Ruck and the magnificent Emily Gilmore Kelly Bishop.
We're super duper excited for the June 11th premiere!!
We are SUPER thrilled for the premiere of ABC Family's ballet-based comedy Bunheads premiering this June 11th, but before we can precariously perch on our pointe shoes, we must indulge in this little snippet (above).
Sutton Foster's character is having all her matrimonial dreams come true… if only her mother-in-law wasn't stepping in and trampling all over them!
Oh it's going to be Gilmore Girls meets Center Stage… How can this show NOT be fantabulous!
Monday night, singer/actor Jonathan Groff took to the stage at the MCC Theater’s Miscast benefit in Manhattan!
Each year, the event gets Broadway stars to play roles in which they’d never be cast in and has them perform!
The Spring Awakening star personified
Reno Sweeney Sutton Foster in Anything Goes when he put on a little song and dance, recreating the eight-minute number!
Check out the video of his performance (above)!!!
He is SO cute, we can barely stand it!!!!
Take her name off the marquee — New York's sweetheart is heading to La La Land!
It's been confirmed that ABC Family has picked up the Sutton Foster–led drama Bunheads, created by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman Palladino. The show will feature Sutton as a former Las Vegas showgirl
named Delores Van-Cartier who leaves the glitz of the strip to work as her her mother-in-law's small-town dance studio.
As this marks Sutton's first major stint on television, we're nothing but happy for her, but we're sure the bright lights of Broadway are going to miss her terribly!
Enjoy this girl — but come back to the Great White Way soon!!
