Well this is pretty freakin' impressive! You go, Angela Bassett!
The Whitney movie, based on Whitney Houston's life, premiered on Lifetime on Saturday, January 17th to an impressive number of viewers!
So impressive, in fact, that it was Lifetime's most watched telecast since they aired Flowers in the Attic!
According to the Nielsen Fast Cable Ratings,
Fans tuned into the Angela Bassett-directed film on January 17th only to be met with copious amounts of sex and cocaine!
Twitter absolutely lit up with tweets celebrating Deborah Cox's brilliant voice, praising the costume directors for their work with the wardrobe, but the relationship shown between Bobby Brown and YaYa DaCosta's Whitney?
Viewers were none too pleased! It was not what they were expecting AT ALL!
Especially because there were a BUNCH of surprise sex scenes!
Sure, some viewers enjoyed the chemistry of the actors, but most people were surprised the movie could even get away with the raunchiness of it all!

The Golden Globes was full of happy and funny moments.
But there were also a few scary moments inside the Beverly Hilton ballroom that you didn't see on the live broadcast.
Paramedics were called to the awards show when an unidentified man passed out due to his close proximity to the front stage's hot lights. While there was a rumor that Richard Perry, Jane Fonda's boyfriend passed out, her rep confirms this was NOT true.
Fortunately, the unidentified man recovered and he did not need any further treatment.
A second incident occurred involving an actual nominee.
Yaya DaCosta has proven yet again that she was absolutely the right choice to play Whitney Houston!

Yaya's got the look, while the vocals in the movie are actually provided by singer-songwriter Deborah Cox.
Together, they've done the impossible and recreated Whitney Houston. Yup, Whitney was something else. So special it took two women to properly portray her on film!
Whitney will air on Lifetime January 17th at 8pm and we can't waittttt!
