#JunosSoMale? Canada's Juno Awards Pretty Much Only Nominated Men — And Grimes Is Not Happy Aboot It!

no title

She's gonna kill v. maim someone!

While Canada is usually more progressive than America when it comes to social issues, they don't seem to be much better than us when nominating people for awards.

The nominees for the 2016 Juno Awards were revealed on Tuesday… and it's clear they must have forgotten that females can make music, too — but one person who definitely didn't forget is singer/musician/producer/artist Grimes.

The 27-year-old had her highest charting album of her career in 2015 with Art Angels, but she and most of her female peers were mysteriously overlooked by the music awards show, spawning the hashtag #JunosSoMale!

Naturally, Grimes took to Twitter to vent her frustrations in a series of now-deleted tweets, saying:

Apple Exec Jimmy Iovine Apologizes For Saying It's 'Difficult' For Women To Find Music 'When They Have Their Heart Broken Or Whatever'

Well, this wasn't exactly as smart as the iPhone…

Apple Music executive Jimmy Iovine was on CBS This Morning on Thursday talking about music for women — when he made a remark that was widely viewed as sexist!

Host Gayle King was asking Iovine about Apple Music's new advertisements — starring Mary J. Blige, Kerry Washington, and Taraji P. Henson – which center around the idea of an "instant boyfriend mixtape service."

Iovine explained why the company is trying to attract more female customers for its music:

Rebel Wilson Says THIS Is Why She Lied About Her Age!

Her reason totally makes sense.

Things got a little aca-awkward for Rebel Wilson earlier this year after it was discovered she had been lying about her actual age.

But, it turns out the blonde beauty had a pretty good reason for it. The 35-year-old opened up to Who magazine, saying her dishonesty was necessary for her career.

The Australian actress explained that the industry's harsh judgment towards women drove the decision, saying:

"Being an actress it affects women more than men in terms of ageism and sexism so to be called out by the press on something most sensible business-minded people would have done in my position, it was a bit hurtful."

That makes sense, because the truth could have actually hurt the funny lady's career. The Pitch Perfect star continued:

"When you're an actor, you have what's called a playing range; to me, it's not really beneficial having your age written anyway."

It's unfortunate that ladies of a certain age are given less opportunities than their younger colleagues, so we understand why Rebel chose to hide the truth.

Emma Watson SLAMS Sexism — Says 'Women Are Just As Guilty Of Discriminating Against Women'

Emma speaks out again.

This isn't the first time Emma Watson has spoken up about sexism in the entertainment industry, and we're pretty positive it won't be the last — unless, of course, the issue is resolved overnight.

The Beauty and the Beast star recently shared some shocking numbers about the amount of men and women she's worked with throughout her career, saying:

"I have experienced sexism in that I have been directed by male directors 17 times and only twice by women. Of the producers I've worked with 13 have been male and only one has been a woman."

The English beauty also mentioned that the media treats her differently from male actors.

And she says Hollywood isn't the only place where this discrimination thrives.

The UN Women Goodwill Ambassador can also see that sexism is still very prominent across our entire society, and reveals the people in positions of power are not empathetic enough to fix the problem:

Cara Delevingne SLAMS Superhero Movies And Says They're 'Totally Sexist'! Decide If You Agree With Her Reasoning!

Cara Delevingne has a LOT to say about superhero flicks!

Cara Delevingne has never been afraid to speak her mind, so we weren't too shocked when she absolutely SLAMMED superhero movies and claimed they were sexist!

The only thing is, she's about to be IN a superhero movie!!

While recently dishing about her upcoming flick, Suicide Squad, Cara talked about how ladies are poorly represented in the superhero genre! She said:

"Female superheroes are normally naked or in bikinis. No one would be able to fight like that. Wonder Woman, how the hell does she fight? She would be dead in a minute."

Preach, sister!!!

Sexism in the superhero/comic book genre goes back for DECADES and many have complained that female characters are often overly sexualized compared to their male counterparts!

It's hard to argue when the tagline for 2004's Catwoman might as well have been "Come see Halle Berry in a sexy leather suit!"

However, we are seeing little bits of progress here and there! For example, Supergirl's outfit turned out to be surprisingly functional and Agent Carter was even picked up for a second season! But sadly both of these are TV shows and NOT films like Cara mentioned!

So naturally we have to ask, what do you think about sexism in superhero movies? Have we made ANY progress over the years?? Sound off in the comments!
