Mark Cuban Donates $1 Million To Help Dallas Police Protect LGBT Community In Wake Of Orlando Shooting
Mark Cuban is trying to help prevent future tragedies.
On Wednesday, the Shark Tank star donated $1 million to help the Dallas Police Department better protect the city's LGBT community in the wake of the horrific shooting at Pulse nightclub that killed 49 people and injured dozens more.
The Dallas Mavericks owner's generous contribution will be able to pay for 16,000 hours of overtime for the city's police officers, that Chief David Brown will assign to boost counterterrorism efforts.
One of those efforts includes increased authority presence at Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood, which has a large LGBT community.
The business mogul commented on the hefty donation, saying:
"I'm proud to be able to help the City of Dallas."
Mayor Mike Rawlings applauded Mark's action, saying it's more effective than "empty talk":
