This puts a smile on our face and a song in our hearts! Not since they announced the tribute episode to one Britney Spears have we been THIS excited for an episode of GLEE!
Fellow Gleeks! The time has come. Good to his word, Ryan Murphy has not entertained a single celebrity on the show for the first half of the season. It’s been all about the kids of New Directions and how they’re lives are changing in their senior year. But to that end, the embargo is being lifted come January and we can’t say that we mind in the slightest.
During Santana’s coming out of the flannel closet party, we were introduced to her narrow-minded Abuela, but not her supportive parents, who according to Santana, were nothing if not supportive of their lesbian daughter. Now, we’ve learned the reason why they remained in the shadows – Ryan Murphy was securing the ultimate diva to play opposite Naya Rivera as her mom:
Gloria Estefan!!!!
You can see it too right?! The most inspired casting decision of all time!!!
But wait! There is more!
When Gloria arrives in January, she brings along with her her own catalogue of music, which will be performed in the episode! In fact, they might be performed in a few episodes!
Way to come through, Ryan! We remember when she was invited to the set last year and you wanted her to be on the show then. Good ideas never really go away, do they!
To be frank, WE’RE ECSTATIC!!! As soon as we know the airdate, we are canceling all of our plans for that day.
