
Karl Lagerfeld was in freezing cold Moscow on Tuesday to unveil the Pirelli calendar that he photographed.
According to Unkle K he wanted to portray “timeless beauty and youth”, which is why he went for a mythological theme.
In total their are 36 black and white images where 15 ladies and 5 men are dressed, if you can call it that, as Greek and Roman gods and goddesses.
At Tuesday night’s event Karl described himself as “the visual version of [ancient Greek writer] Homer”.
He adds: “I did with my camera what he did with his pen, although we understand that he probably didn’t use a pen.”
