Cycling Champ Comes Out!

Help us out with making Scottish world cycling champion Graeme Obree feel comfortable with his decision to tell the world that he’s gay!
After a long battle with suicide attempts and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, Obree started seeing a psychologist in 2005 to try and help with his issues and the suppressing of emotions. He recently came out to his family, including his wife!
Support is crucial, and it seems his family has given him theirs! He says:

“My parents had to come to terms with the whole gay thing, it’s been a journey for them. It was difficult and there were lots of tears. It wasn’t easy. But the relationship with my parents has been improved by it. We talked about it and discussed things and we’re a lot happier.”

Obree has been an inspiration to athletes everywhere, having broken world records for cycling in both 1993 and 1994. Now, at 45, he’s making strides in a different kind of venue, and should be recognized for his courage to accept who he is!
