This story could be the plot for the next Homeward Bound movie.
In Alaska, musher Amanda Byrd has found her dog Bridget after being separated for over 3 years!
Amanda gave the half German short-haired pointer, half Husky away to a friend 3 years ago, only to have the dog run away after a couple days while out on a walk.
Amanda feared the dog had dissappeared into the wild and died, but got a Christmas surprise two days before the holiday.
A fellow musher e-mailed her to tell her he saw a dog that looked just like Bridget at a dog pound, which Amanda recognized immediately after seeing a picture.
Bridget, now missing a paw, had been surviving in the Alaskan wild for three years before being picked up by the animal control two weeks ago and placed in a shelter.
It looks like Christmas miracles do happen after all and Bridget finally made it home.
“When she got home she realized where she was and that tail started wagging and her body started wagging,” Amanda said.
We’re so happy for Bridget and her owner Amanda!
