Eli, a bomb-sniffing Labrador whose handler was killed in combat in Afghanistan, has found a new home. His handler’s parents.
Darrell and Kathy Rusk from Orange Grove, Texas picked up the 4-year-old dog today who is only the second military dog to be adopted by the family of a slain handler.
The Rusks say they wanted to adopt the dog because their 20-year-old son Pfc. Colton Rusk talked about his loyal canine companion so much, they felt Eli was part of the family.
So sad!
We wish the Rusks the best as they deal with the tragic loss of their son, but hope Eli brings some happiness into their home.
