Is this why she was wearing that hideous sock and sandal combo the other day?
There’s NO excuse for that!
Sarah Jessica Parker recently divulged that years of wearing heels have done major damage to her footsies.
In an interview with NET-A-PORTER.com, SJP revealed:
“For ten or so years, I literally ran in heels. I worked 18-hour days and never took them off. I wore beautiful shoes, some better made than others, and never complained. But then I did I Don├óΓé¼Γäót Know How She Does It, and I was very thoughtful about my whole wardrobe and said, you know, [Kate Reddy] could not afford really good footwear. So I got [lower priced] shoes and the bottoms weren├óΓé¼Γäót leather, they were plastic, so I slipped a couple times, twisted my ankle. I went to a foot doctor and he said, ‘Your foot does things it shouldn’t be able to do. That bone there… You’ve created that bone. It doesn’t belong there.’ The moral of the story is, the chickens are coming home to roost. It’s sad, because my feet took me all over the world, but eventually they were like, ‘You know what, we are really tired, can you just stop ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ and don’t put cheap shoes on us?'”
Hmmm, it kinda sounds like she’s saying it wasn’t necessarily the infamous Manolo Blahniks she wore for years as Carrie on Sex and the City, but CHEAP shoes in particular that did the damage.
On the other hand, wearing cheap shoes for the time that it takes to shoot a film (usually about three months or so) is not long enough to do REAL damage to one’s feet, so we’re guessing the sky-high, single-soled Manolos really are to blame after all.
And we’ve definitely noticed her embracing comfier footwear lately as she takes her kids to school, but the actress still dusts off the old heels for her red carpet appearances and in her recent shoot with the luxury e-tailer, she donned some exquisite pumps and sandals by the likes of Valentino and Saint Laurent.
Old habits die hard, eh?
The 47-year-old also admitted that she’s doing some major closet revamping, saying:
“I think I wear seven percent of what├óΓé¼Γäós in my closet. I have more pants, more jeans, more corduroys than I ever imagined I├óΓé¼Γäód own in my life. I have dresses I keep, and I go, ‘Better not throw that out because I├óΓé¼Γäóm gonna have an occasion├óΓé¼Γäó. But the occasion never presents itself and this weekend I am cleaning it all out. I said to my husband, ├óΓé¼╦£It├óΓé¼Γäós going to be an echo chamber in there.'”
We really hope she donates some of those goodies. Can you imagine stumbling upon a pair of Balmain jeans or Dolce & Gabbana top while perusing the local thrift store?
We would DIE!
