American fashion designer Michael Costello, whose designs have been seen on the likes of Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton, has a bone to pick with Kylie Jenner over how she utilizes her Instagram platform — and what she chooses to credit!
With over 190 million followers on the ‘gram alone, she has a massive influence — which is something many have called on her to better utilize in recent weeks amid heightened awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement.

As we previously reported, the makeup mogul is currently celebrating her 23rd birthday in Turks and Caicos with Kendall Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, Stassie Karanikolaou, and Stormi Webster, and is obviously doing it in style, including the “perfect bday dress” from friend and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing (below):

Though the post has nearly 10 million likes as of writing, and plenty of comments from fans, Costello took the opportunity to express something else entirely, and shed light on the disparity in the designers she chooses to highlight to her massive audience:
“Thank you Oliver for the perfect bday dress . And thank you to the no name designers who work tirelessly around the clock on custom looks who she won’t tag , mention or @ . . . Unless it’s paid . And thank you to the glam team who always gets tagged no matter what .”
Ouch!!
He continued (below):
“( this post has nothing to do with me as Kylie only wears something from me once a year and I’m lucky if i get a decent pic to post . No shade to any of her team who styles her and no shame to the glam team . Even though we know you can not wait to unfollow me and drag me for filth!”
Michael wrapped up his lengthy message, expressing the frustration he feels from Miz Jenner and “popular women” only shouting out major designers and friends, while seemingly taking advantage of freebies and not giving credit for their work:
“But it’s sad that designers work so so so so hard on these opportunities to dress these gorgeous popular women and they only tag the major high end designers like Oliver but forget about the other ones . ( this has nothing to do with my brand ) but it definitely has a lot to do with the la designers why not tag at least one ? Not all the time but maybe once in a while”
What do U think about Costello’s argument, y’all?? The comment already has a few thousand likes — but also plenty of messages from those who disagree. Let us know (below) in the comments!
