What the WHAT?!
First it was Daniel Radcliffe and now Emma Watson?!
The Harry Potter franchise would’ve never been the same if the two quit their iconic roles, and we can’t think of anyone more brilliant to play Hermione!
According to David Heyman, the producer who worked on all eight HP films, the cast originally signed up to appear in only two films.
Two of eight films?! It seems like it would be so time consuming to recast the characters for every Harry Potter film!
David talked about the negotiation process for each film, after wrapping up the Chamber of Secrets, he said:
“Then we had to renegotiate each time. Emma [Watson], in particular, was quite academic and was very keen in pursuit of schooling and was wrestling a little bit more than the others.
Well, gurlfriend did attend Brown University AND she’s finishing her up her education soon!
So, we’re not surprised that school is important to her!
The HP producer continued:
“So each time there was a negotiation, it was not about a financial [matter], it really was about, ‘Do I want to be a part of this?’ We had to be sensitive to her needs and how important school was to her.
And you have to listen. In our position, you’re not dictating, you’re listening. At the same time, it’s a tipping point, and it’s working within a framework. I deeply respected her, encouraged her. She’s very smart, always was, and fiercely intelligent.”
Wow.
Gurlfriend can do whatever she pleases, but we’re all glad to see she didn’t stop being Hermione!
We definitely commend Emma for wanting to pursue an education while being a part of AND after leaving the Harry Potter franchise!
