Adele is breaking down her iconic NBA meme!!
During a February 2022 basketball game, the singer infamously went viral for looking annoyed AF as she sat courtside. And now we know what was REALLY going on to create the now legendary and truly memeable clip! During her Las Vegas residency concert on Saturday, the Hello artist wanted to give folks some “context” about the hilarious video! So, she joked:
“Do you remember that viral meme of me looking like I don’t give a flying f**k? Looking everywhere but the camera. I’d like to give some … context to that meme.”

The 35-year-old musician went on to explain that she was there with her partner Rich Paul. He was busy making the rounds while she was just there “on my own looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you.”
And because she doesn’t “like being famous,” and at the time was also dealing with the controversy over her canceled residency, she wanted nothing to do with the camera crew when they approached her about being on screen! She dished:
“But the people with the camera came and asked me twice. They were like, ‘Do you mind if we film you? Can we put you on the screen?’ I said, ‘Please don’t, please don’t. I just canceled Vegas, really don’t wanna, you know, I really don’t want [that].’ They came back and they filmed me!”
WTF was the point of asking her if they weren’t going to listen!? As for why Adele looked so different, she teased:
“The reason my lips looked like I had filler — because I got naturally big lips right, I don’t need filler. The reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking because I was like, these motherf**kers have come back and are filming me against my will.”
LMFAO!
The proud mom also “didn’t realize they were airing it on TV.” At the time, she thought it was “just in the room.” Concluding the story, she laughed:
“Also my face is just very memeable. I can’t help it!”
