Hmm. Wonder why she felt the need to clarify this point now.
When Alicia Keys first started seeing her now husband Swizz Beatz, there was speculation that she had gotten involved with him BEFORE he had officially left his wife. Alicia has remained mum on these allegations for a long time, but in a recent interview, she finally admitted that she was never the “homewrecker” people painted her out to be. She explained:
“We didn’t start seeing each other until months after they had separated. I was aware of all the false things that were being said about me it definitely hurt.”
People talk. The most important thing is that you didn’t let the gossip keep you two from creating a life together – or the tirades from his ex-wife, who fueled the gossip fires by telling people Alicia had “destroyed” her family. Of her husband’s ex, Alicia said:
“I was sure that if I engaged it would become back-and-forth like some sick entertainment, which goes against everything I believe and would have made things worse.”
Very class move. We respect that a lot.
