Alicia Keys
looks AMAZE on the cover of Allure!
She’s probably not even wearing any makeup either! Which is an extra dose of amazing!

Although the singer may be sporting some concealer or a hint of eyebrow pencil, we can say that overall she looks so much more fresh-faced and natural than most Allure cover girls. It’s a nice change!
For the editorial, the 35-year-old does allow some makeup to be applied to her flawless features, including some black and fuchsia eyeliner on an otherwise makeup-free visage.
And in the accompanying interview, she candidly addresses the whole no-makeup talk that has been dogging her ever since she revealed that she was going to be mostly bare-faced going forward.
She said:

“I’m not a slave to makeup. I’m not a slave to not wearing makeup either. I get to choose at [any] given moment. That’s my right.”

The main point here is obviously the importance of having the freedom to choose, something that is close to her heart.
Alicia continued:

“I think makeup can be self-expression. I have no intention to shame anyone at all [who chooses to wear it]. No one should be ashamed by the way you choose to express yourself. And that’s exactly the point. However, if you want to do that for yourself, you should do that.”

This makes all the more sense when you consider how the brunette beauty feels about women’s rights in general.
She explained:

“I am all about a woman’s right to choose. I think a woman should do anything she wants as it relates to her face, her body, her health. Whatever mode of expression that empowers you, that’s what you should do. What I am not down for is this ridiculously high, unrealistic expectation about appearance that we as women are held to.”

Hear, hear!
The mom of two is also not here for oppressive societal standards being set on boys either, saying:

“I am so annoyed at the way we force boys to be fake strong├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥don’t cry, don’t be soft. Let a boy be able to dance! Let a boy paint his nails. So a boy wants to paint his nails. Who cares! All these strange, oppressive ideas.”

Right. On.
We imagine she’ll raise her sons Egypt and Genesis to be confident in themselves and not afraid of honest self-expression.
She’s a true role model!
