Let’s hope it works as well as the Hush episode did on Buffy.

We’ve got some SPOILERY news about an upcoming episode of Glee. At the end of April, sources report that McKinley High is going to fall silent for the entire hour. No singing, no dialogue – nothing.

The story goes that Miz Rachel Berry, in preparation for Nationals, suggests that her team take a vow of silence to preserve their vocal chords. According to sources, the task of keeping her mouth shut proved to be rather difficult for our beloved Lea Michele, so at some point, she actually had to have duck tape put over lips to keep her quiet.

Hey, when you have a voice like hers, you should want to share it with the world at every turn! Ha!

Anyway, just because there won’t be any singing doesn’t mean there won’t be any music. To fill the void, instrumental covers of apropos songs will play throughout the episode, inclduding *SPOILER ALERT* Bjork’s “It’s Oh So Quiet” and No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak.”

So, what made Ryan Murphy and Co. decided to do this? Well besides the obvious benefit of having a new schtick to full around with, one source insists the idea came out of…laziness? What? One source extremely close to the writing of the show explains:

“Writing dialogue is so exhausting that we never have any time to work on plots, so the only way we could actually have something happen on the show was to remove all the talking. Plus, I’m sick and tired of getting in trouble with Lindsay Lohan for all the lines on the show about how she’s a dirty, thieving skank. Which she is.”

Whoa! Easy there! Save it for the show, buddy!

We’re not so sure that be believe removing the dialogue was a ploy to advance the plot, but we’re excited to see the plot of the show advance! Things have felt a little stagnant since we got back from hiatus and with these last six episodes, we really want some fun twists in the story.

Thoughts, Gleeks? Think this could work?
