Yeah, we can never get a definitive read on this feud, if there really is one.
Bette Midler is coming forward to insist that there is no bad blood between she and Lady GaGa, even though over the summer, Bette took a shot at the mother monster after she “copid” the Diving M’s mermaid in a wheelchair style gag at a concert. She took to her Twitter following the reveal of GaGaloo’s costume, saying:
“I’m not sure Lady Gaga knows that I’ve performed my mermaid in a wheelchair for millions of people – and many of them are still alive… Dear Lady Gaga if you think a mermaid in a wheelchair seems familiar – it’s because it is! You can see it on youtube 24/7 – with ME performing it… Dear Lady Gaga I’ve been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980 – You can keep the meat dress and the firecracker t**s – mermaid’s mine.”
Rule #1 about divas: Never step on their toes – or fins as the case may be here.
Anyway, now if you ask Better about the “feud” she dismisses the whole thing, claiming that it happened simply because she didn’t quite understand what it meant to “tweet.” She explained:
“We had a feud, which I loved. I’m not a good tweeter. I said a couple of things. I opened a can of worms. I wasn’t irked at all! I thought it was hilarious. I was actually very flattered, and then we sort of put it to rest.”
Yeah, we were starting to wonder. It didn’t make sense for you to be so ticked off about it, especially considering you OFFERED the costume to her some time before that!
But, we can understand how she was probably being sarcastic and funny and how people just didn’t take it that way. Happens to a lot of folks over social networking. Ah well! Cie la vie!
