Celebs are giving new meaning to the term “popping bottles” this week by participating in a social media challenge that will quite literally leave you spinning.
John Mayer, Ellie Goulding, and Jason Statham are just a few of the stars who are kicking off and accepting the #BottleCapChallenge.
For those who haven’t stumbled upon this viral test yet, here’s how it works: social media users can place a loose cap on a top of a bottle, then try to untwist the cap with a spin kick.
It can be any type of sturdy bottle — big or small; glass or plastic — but the important thing is, the kicker absolutely cannot move the bottle itself. The kicker can, of course, record the video in slow-motion for extra style points.

See how Mayer, who was the first major star to participate, nailed the challenge (below).
Good form, but the bottle was a little shaky. We give it a 6 out of 10.
The singer then challenged Statham to the task, and the action star didn’t hesitate to accept. He shared on his Instagram:
Whoa. The bottle didn’t even move! 10 out of 10!

The Brit went on to challenge Guy Ritchie, making sure to taunt the director by noting that the world has previously seen him “do push ups badly.”
Now with his manhood at stake, Ritchie understandably took the challenge very seriously. Here’s his kick:
Not very theatrical, but flawless contact. 8 out of 10!
Elsewhere on social media, David Spade tried his luck using a travel-sized bottle of Tito’s Vodka. He nailed it, basically:

LOLz! The bottle was clearly being held by someone — but we’ll throw him a few points for committing to that final pose. 7 out of 10.
Goulding also had some help from a bottle holder when she tried her luck with the challenge. However, her Charlie’s Angels-style kick completely made up for it:
Bonus points for throwing a plastic bottle PSA in the caption. 8 out of 10!
Other celebs who were challenged but have yet to accept so far, include Tom Brady, Cara Delevingne, Chris Rock, Will Smith, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Scott, and David Beckham. We will be keeping an eye out for more flying bottle caps.
In the meantime, we’ll be watching the drama fly between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun. Although, it’d be amazing if they joined in with a kick, too!
