As fans of the TV series know, Buffy The Vampire Slayer just refuses to stay dead, prophecies or no. But does that mean a spinoff still has a chance of rising from the television graveyard?
If Anthony Stewart Head has his way it does!
The seasoned star, who played beloved Watcher Rupert Giles on BTVS, says the spinoff story of Ripper that creator Joss Whedon shared with him is still very much on the table! For him anyway! He says:
“I would do it. I would do anything to work with Joss again. He’s a wonderful storyteller, a great director, and a lovely man. I would love to, you know? Whether it’s Ripper or something else…”
Of course, with Anthony now starring in the SyFy original Dominion and Joss directing the biggest franchise on the planet The Avengers, neither one of them has the time for a full series.
But Anthony says that was never the intention! He says:
“The actual story that he originally presented me with was going to be sort of a TV movie. It’s a beautiful story, it’s a standalone story, it doesn’t have to be anything to do with Giles or Buffy or any of the rest of them, and I would love to help him tell that story. It’s more about what happens to Giles when he’s cut adrift from Buffy and the rest of them. What he becomes. It’s a beautiful, beautiful ghost story, and it’s extremely haunting, as you would expect of Joss. It’s unlike anything that I’ve ever read before. And if Joss is still game, then I am!”
OMG, please please PLEASE let them do this! If nothing else is Standing In The Way that is!
