Carrie Underwood has caused quite the conundrum for her fans!!
The 35-year-old country music superstar spoke to Redbook recently for their forthcoming September issue, and in their interview, the topic of family and children inevitably came up.

As candid as can be, Underwood — acknowledging NHL hubby Mike Fisher — admitted the pair may have missed their best chance at a big family because of her already being in her mid-30s:

“I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family. We always talk about adoption and doing it when our child or children are a little older.”

True, to an extent — and commendable, at least on the potential adoption front!
But boy, did this cause a rift for her fans, who were VERY divided on the topic of women giving birth older than 35!!
Across Carrie’s social media platforms, fans wrote in to alternately applause her for her realness, or chastise Underwood for being misguided about whether older women should have kids.

One follower said:

“Seriously Miss Underwood, I was 44 and my wife 42 when child number seven was born. It depends on your health and your desire only.”

And another added on that same wavelength:

“Carrie, you can still have babies at 35… women are having babies later in life than your mother Carol’s generation. They try to establish their careers where Mom’s generation a lot of times we’re happy as housewives. Nowadays, you need two salary’s to make a ‘go of it” w/ children.”

True!!!
But others were quick to point out some of the inevitable health risks that come with having kids later in life (below):

“It is a medical FACT that when a woman reaches 40 she is in the HIGH risk for having a child, I have a daughter-in-law that has just gone through that with her doctor and he has said that with each year it can get worse. So what Carrie is saying is backed up by the medical experts.”

And another:

“I do not understand the outrage the public has over Carrie’s statement on fertility. Pregnancy is a risk no matter the age, but I see no reason to get upset over an issue like this. I don’t see the logic in this heat over a mere comment.”

Pretty divided across social media… but what else is new?
Where do U stand, Perezcious readers?! Let us know in the comments (below)!!!
