Holly Marie Combs Isn't Pleased With The Charmed Reboot's New Sisters -- One Of Which Is A Lesbian!

Holly Marie Combs continues to cast doubt on the Charmed reboot!
Casting breakdowns for the newest bewitching trio who will be at the center of The CW series hit the interwebs this week, causing fans to fiercely compare the new sisters with the OGs.
Among those fans was Piper Halliwell herself, who wasn’t exactly sold on the feminist, LGBT-friendly Pruitt sisters — because they reminded her of another magical triad.
According to the character descriptions reported by TVLine, one of the three sisters in a college town discovers she can freeze time. She also happens to be a lesbian!

Mel Pruitt is a “strong-willed feminist” who is dating female Detective Soo Jin. She apparently experiences a tragic accident that leaves her unable to deal with her emotions, which might lead to some trouble with her time-freezing powers.
Mel’s younger sister is the very popular Madison Pruitt, who is “horrified” to learn she can hear people’s thoughts. The last of the trio is Macy, an older “science nerd” who is not a Pruitt but “has reason to believe that she is the sister of Mel and Madison.” Her power is telekinesis.
While some on Twitter were applauding the reboot’s LGBT twist, not everyone was spellbound. Combs, who played Piper in the original series, tweeted out seemingly sarcastic well wishes to the new Charmed family:

If that wasn’t enough of an indication of how she felt, the actress also pointed out that three sister witches whose “names start with M’s” had already been done in the original series!
Tweeting at Jenny McCarthy, who played a Stillman sister, one of the three witches who tried to steal the powers of the Halliwell girls, Combs wrote:

Ouch. Clearly, the Charmed reboot doesn’t have Piper’s blessing!
Good thing they don’t need it to start filming — because we’re still looking forward to seeing a trailer! Srsly, there hasn’t been a good lesbian witch on TV since Buffy.

MACY | A witty, intense science nerd, Macy ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ who is in her late 20s ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ is a Ph.D. in quantum physics who’s moving with her boyfriend Galvin to Hilltowne, Michigan, to work in the university lab. MEL PRUITT | A strong-willed feminist, she feels deeply and is a bit controlling. Mel ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ who is in her mid 20s and a lesbian ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ is the sister of Madison. In the wake of a tragic accident, the grieving Mel becomes angry, defiantly unkempt, even violent, pushing away those who might help her, including her girlfriend, Detective Soo Jin. Mel’s power is time-freezing.
MADISON PRUITT | Mel’s younger sister (she’s 18-ish), an athletic (pilates, cheerleading) college student pledging a sorority, Madison is the opposite of her feminist sister with a desire to fit in. Madison is horrified to learn she is a witch. Her power is hearing people’s thoughts.”
